Metal Braces
Metal braces are still one of the most popular options for our adolescent patients. With this option, patients are able to select an array of fun color elastics that hold the wire in place. There are other appliances that may be used in conjunction with metal braces, such as a headgear or forsus appliance. Despite there being modern alternatives in the field, traditional braces still provide a terrific way to correct crooked teeth.
Ceramic Braces
If traditional braces seem to be the best fit for you but you don't want to look like you're wearing braces, then this may be the best option for you! Ceramic brackets are clear braces bonded to the front of the teeth. The ceramic brackets provide the same mechanics, strength and durability as the metal braces but without the look.
Lingual Braces
Lingual Braces (behind the teeth braces) are a different type of appliance that still allows you to have a bonded bracket without the appearance of braces. Theses braces are made specifically for your teeth. In our office, we will scan your teeth with our iTero® machine and send the digital models to the manufacturer. From there, each bracket will be made for each individual tooth and all wires will be preformed for the movement necessary to straighten your teeth. Lingual braces do have an adjustment period and may initially be more uncomfortable than traditional braces, but it is a great option if Invisalign® is not the best course of treatment for you.
